The ‘Young Arctic Artists 2017’ exhibition promotes emerging contemporary art from northern areas of Finland, Sweden, Norway, Russia, Iceland, Faroe Island and Greenland. Exhibition will take place in Gallery Napa and Mustanapa (Rovaniemi, Finland) 28.10.2017 – 15.11.2017 and in an addition, a special screening of video works will be held in Ekkisens Gallery (Reykjavik, Iceland). Other events and locations related to exhibition will be announced later.
Exhibition is managed by Artists’ Association of Lapland and co-curated by artist-producers Pilvi Keto-LeBlanc (Finland), Lys-Ange LeBlanc (Canada/Finland) and Freyja Eilif (Iceland). Under thematic umbrella of ‘Alien Threshold’, Young Arctic Artists now invites proposals for works and projects for its 2017 edition. Deadline for applications is 31st of May 2017.
Young Arctic Artists 2017 is the second of three international exhibition and network platform organized in Rovaniemi, Finland and other locations between years 2016-2018 promoting emerging artists working in the arctic. The aim of this exhibition series project is to map out the scene of young contemporary art in the selected northern geographic area, advance its visibility and to create new networking possibilities and information database for artists, curators and other creative professionals.
The project is funded by the Nordic Culture Fund, The Arts Promotion Centre Finland -The Regional Office of Lapland, and the Artists’ Association of Lapland.
