SÍM Guesthouse was established in 2002 by SÍM - The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists in partnership with Reykjavík. The guesthouse aims to serve as a shelter in the Reykjavík center for visiting international and local artists and cultural workers, their accompanying partners, and family members.

​

 

Throughout the year, SÍM Guesthouse hosts numerous professional artists and cultural practitioners who visit Reikjavík with multiple collaboration projects with local institutions or upon artists' decisions for their own personal research or network residencies.

​

 

‍We encourage you to feel comfortable with shared spaces and welcome other guests. Don't hesitate to reach out during your stay if you need anything. Our friendly staff members are available night or day to help you out.

Important notes

Last-minute bookings > We do not accept last-minute bookings as SÍM Guesthouse does not have a 24-hour front desk. For urgent, short-notice bookings, please contact the SÍM staff directly during office hours (Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 16:00) via email at residency@sim.is or by phone at +354 551 1346.

Children > For safety requirements, children under the age of 14 are not permitted to stay in the guesthouse.

​

Accessibility> The house was built in 1850 and is unsuitable for individuals with mobility challenges or disabilities. Due to the building's historic design, it has not been modified for easy access, and the apartment can only be reached via stairs.

​

The SÍM guest rooms are situated in the SÍM House,

SÍM office – Hafnarstræti 16, 101 Reykjavík.

About the SÍM Guesthouse

 

Four bedrooms are available,  a shared fully equipped kitchen, living room, and bathroom. The guest rooms are rented out to artists, curators, and others working in the art field for 1-15 nights. The bedrooms are pretty spacious, with two single beds each. 

 

Guesthouse fee 2024:

SÍM is a nonprofit organization. Therefore, the guesthouse fee only meets the general needs to maintain and administrate the guesthouse facilities. 

​

Room 1, 30 sqm - is two private rooms divided into a working and living room, with a private sink and bedroom. The fee per night for one guest is 18.000 ISK, and for two guests, it is 22.000 ISK.

​

Rooms 2,3 and 4 are around 15sqm each. Each room is a private room with two single beds. The nightly fee for each room for one guest is 12.000 ISK, and 16.000 ISK per night for two guests. 

​

Booking for a week or longer gives you a 10% discount.

​

Sheets, towels, communal cost, and wireless internet access are included.

Smoking is not allowed indoors. Guests must clean the apartment and have it ready for other guests before they leave.
