Studio Sol invites artists, artist groups and curators to submit event, project or exhibition proposals for the gallery’s 2020 programme. Creative ideas centered around exhibitions, lecture series, curator talks, performance, are all welcome for submission. The open call therefore accepts proposals for shorter event and workshop periods of a weekend to one week, as well as longer exhibition blocks running for one month. Local and international artists welcome. Accepted participants will choose and manage their own open studio hours with the director´s coordination. As the gallery director I am searching for projects that will both activate the gallery space as well as our community and locality in a unique and critically contemplative way.
Proposals can be written in Icelandic or English. In your application please include a written proposal (1 page), CV(s) for all participants (max 5 documents), and any supporting visual material or samples of work (max 5 documents). Please include preferred dates and duration.
Please send your proposal to: email@example.com by September 30th, 2019, midnight (00:00).
Selection process: Applications will be reviewed by the gallery director and applications will be notified of results within one month from the application deadline.
About Studio Sol:
Studio Sol is a curatorial space presenting exhibitions in my home in Reykjavik’s artist-inhabited community in the warehouse district in Höfðabakki. Stúdíó Sól will showcase the artistic and cultural talent and beauty of Reykjavik and its unique artistic expression. This attention to experimentation, innovation, and the unorthodox is its focus and mission statement, a playground for artists to attempt something new, fearless of the consequences, to see what can be, and what can be created. Stúdíó Sól will exhibit contemporary, experimental, and performance art, with a specific focus on newly emerging artists and talent in Reykjavik´s art world, to provide an opportunity and locus for curators, artists, and collectors to connect and engage in artistic dialogue and expression. We will focus on the diversity of voices in Reykjavík, and the common thread that they weave together.
Vagnhöfði 19, Höfðabakki, Reykjavik
The gallery is open by private appointment only, and during opening events
