Um er að ræða fimm sérfræðinga sem tengjast Metropolitan Museum of Art í New York.
Myndlistarmenn innan SÍM sem óska eftir að hitta þessa sérfræðinga geta sótt um viðtalstíma með því að senda tölvupóst til Ásgerðar skrifstofustjóra SÍM ásamt möppu/portfolio á ensku um listferil sinn í tölvutæku formi (pdf) þar sem koma fram helstu upplýsingar um feril þeirra og mynddæmi um myndlist þeirra.
Viðtölin, sem munu fara fram á ensku, verða í SÍM húsinu í Hafnarstræti miðvikudaginn 19. maí næstkomandi (2021) milli kl 10:00 og 13:00. Boðið er uppá viðtöl við eftirtalda sérfræðinga: Shanay Jhaveri, Ghiora Aharoni and Steven Estok, Christopher Noey og Pari Stave. Sjá nánari upplýsingar um þau hér fyrir neðan.

A date with foreign art professionals – Portfolio reviews with curators
Once again, SÍM, in collaboration with the Academy of the Senses, is inviting artists within SÍM to meet with international art experts. These experts all have a connection with the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
Any member of SÍM can apply for a meeting by sending application and portfolio in English (pdf version) with detailed information on background, education, and examples of artwork via email to Ásgerður – SÍM Office Manager.
The Portfolio Reviews will be held at SÍM in Reykjavík on Wednesday, May 19th, 2021, between 10:00 – 13:00. The experts are: Shanay Jhaveri, Ghiora Aharoni and Steven Estok, Christopher Noey and Pari Stave. Further information below.

About the curators:
Shanay Jhaveri, Associate Curator of International Art, Metropolitan Museum, received his Ph.D. in Art History. Royal College of Art, London. His recent exhibitions include “Alex Da Corte: As Long as the Sun Lasts” (2021 commission for the museum rooftop; “Carol Bove: The séances aren’t helping” (2021 commission for the museum facade); “Nikhil Chopra: Land, Water, Skies” (2019); “Mrinalini Mukherjee: Phenomenal Nature” (2019); “Huma Bhabha: We Come in Peace” (2018 commission for the Met’s rooftop); and “Ranjani Shettar: Seven ponds as a few raindrops”. A specialist in the history of film and video, he was co-curator of “Outsider Visions of America” for the Lincoln Center Film Festival in 2019. He curated the film program for the Dhaka Art Summit in 2016, and was curator for the Light Industry film program, “Chandigarh is in India,” in 2015.
Ghiora Aharoni and Steven Estok:
Partners in Ghiora Aharoni Design Studio, New York
Ghiora Aharoni founded his multi-disciplinary studio for art and design in New York City in 2004. His work has been exhibited internationally in museums, institutions and galleries. A graduate of Yale University, with a Master of Architecture degree, Aharoni’s work is in the permanent collection of the Pompidou Center, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Vatican, The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., The Morgan Libary and Museum, and the Beit Hatfutsot Museum in Tel Aviv. In 2020 Aharoni was the Artist-in-Residence at the India Art Fair, where he also exhibited an installation exploring intercultural coexistence. His work was exhibited in the 2020-21 Asia Society Triennial in New York. Steven Estok is a former art gallery owner, curator, and print publisher and has worked for art magazines in New York and Paris. He received a Master of Arts in French from Middlebury College and a MFA in Creative Writing from The New School.
An artist historian, curator, authors and Emmy Award-winning producer of films on art and culture, Noey has an MA, Art History, Institute of Fine Arts, NYU. He is the co-founder of Stereopticon Pictures, a documentary film and video company in New York. He has produced films for PBS, Bravo, and a number of not-for-profit organizations. As a former producer at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, he specialized in video installations for a diverse array of exhibitions, and produced hundreds of short-form videos on art and artists, including the series The Artist Project.
An art historian and senior museum administrator for the Department of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Metropolitan Museum. Prior to joining the Met she was consulting curator of Scandinavia House in New York. She studied Art History at the Institute of Fine Arts, NYU, and has more than 25 years experience working as a curator.
