About Konstepidemin & Gothenburg Konstepidemin is an artist run organization, which comprises 130 artists’ studios, three galleries, an artist-in-residence program, a restaurant and more. Konstepidemin is originally an old Epidemic Hospital built in the late 19th century, located up on a hill, which creates a calm feeling of isolation from the rest of the city even though it is situated in central Gothenburg and close to parks, amenities, galleries, museums and just a five-minute walk to Gothenburg Botanical Gardens.
Gothenburg is the second largest city in Sweden and situated on the west coast. Gothenburg is a coastal city with Sweden’s largest university campus, an important harbor and big industries. The city has a long history of a strong underground art scene and artist run galleries. Sadly, Gothenburg is one of Europe’s most segregated cities, which clearly is visible in the art scene. At Konstepidemin we are working to change this, with a lot of small funding’s, we slowly make progress and have therefore been focusing on related subjects the past years.
The residency is made possible thanks to Nordic Culture Point
