“The Tension of Things Unsaid is a moving image and sculpture installation that provides a forensic analysis of psychological tension of necessity to keep a secret or an experience from others. The research spans across cases of sexual harassment, kidnappings and personal burdens found in the printed media.
Following the recent worldwide phenomena of sexual harassment victims sharing their experiences publicly, I began to explore the tension between victim and perpetrator before a case became public. This tension is being forensically examined through the lens of publicly available footage, press interviews of the people involved, and it will look into the inherent imbalance of power between the victim and the perpetrator.
Later I followed my personal fear of kidnapping and looked into the cases of kidnapping when the blackmailed person could not share their burden and found a similarity between an experience described later by the victim. In a sense, the research seeks to detect an imbalance of power and the reasons the victim would finally disturb the imbalance by sharing the hidden experience.”
