Um verkið og listamennina:
Libia Castro & Ólafur Ólafsson, Cut-up Indeterminate Anthem and Artists Precarity Loop Song Workshop
The artists present two new music compositions developed through an on-site workshop with the music ensemble. For one of these, Cut-up Indeterminate Anthem, the group addresses various ideas on nationalisms and internationalism. The exercise involves using scores of national anthems of their native countries, and randomly re-assembling them into sculptural mobiles that serve as musical scores, to be performed by the ensemble. The audience is welome to take part in the cut-up process and the discussions.
For the Artists Precarity Loop Song, the artists and ensemble work with various texts, from the artists’ own statements to existing essays and art manifestos, all of which touch on artist’s rights and working conditions. For creating a song, they experiment with ideas expressed there, as well as with the various manifestations of art appropriation, juxtaposition, détournement, looping, cut-up and improvisation.
