Erla Haraldsdóttir – Make A Painting of Trees Growing in a Forest
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
if you happen to be in Kalmar in Sweden please be welcome to the opening of solo exhibition:
“Make A Painting of Trees Growing in a Forest”, curated by museum director Bengt Olof Johansson.
There is also a launch of the book: “Make A Painting of Trees Growing in a Forest” published by CRYMOGEA, with texts by: Kyllikki Zacharias, Jonatan Habib Engqvist and Christoph Tannert.
I will be showing 25 paintings, where each painting has a task or a request as a point of departure.
Example of one such task is: “Make a painting of trees growing in a forest”
“To execute the task of making a painting of trees in a forest is something very different from merely making a painting of trees in a forest. The instruction creates a framework Every painting becomes the trace of a persistent thinking-doing painting process. It is a thinking of constricted independence that allows light and shadow to interact with the physical aspects of paint in order to create new spaces.”
