Eftir það hefur hann starfað sem sjálfstæður listamaður eða butoh meistari. Hann hefur ferðast víða með list sína, dansað og haldið námskeið í Japan og annars staðar. “Natural Physical Poet” varð til eftir að ljóðskáldið Allen Ginsberg varð vitni að listsköpun Mushimaru Fuijeda í New York, þar sem ljóðskáldið fór fögrum orðum um Mushimarus dans. Hann gaf sér þetta nafn og hefur í gegnum árin þróað einstakan stíl og dansverk. Árið 1997 hlaut hann verðlaunin “Most excellent improvised dance” Tobita Drama Award. Önnur verk hans eru m.a. ; a mask dance-drama for Himalayan religious ceremonies, ýmist leikhús samstarf ásamt tónlistarfólki þar ber helst að nefna verk í tengslum við Allen Ginsberg, ”Rainbow 2000” techno hátíð í Japan, samstarf við Eduard Vesala frá Finnlandi, Juksan Internatonal Arts Festival Korea, Kyoto Satelite Channel, “Asian Performing Arts Now” í samstarfi við Edwin Lung og samstarf við “Korean Company Paekche” ásamt Professor Sung-Sik Chang.

Jafnframt listkennslu hefur hún fengist við að semja tónlist, skipulagt ljóðasamkomur og staðið að bókaútgáfu. Þessi þekking hennar læðist inn í spuna hennar þar sem hún hefur unnið með áhugaverðu fólki svo sem ; Sabu Toyozumi, Peter Brotzmann, Deku Ogawa og Butoh dönsurunum Hal Tanaka, Mushimaru Fuijeda og Tukasa Kamidate.

Andstæðukennd líkt og íslensk náttúra, eins og kraftmikill stormur eða draumkennt íslenskt landslag. Ásta lærði í Þýskalandi og hefur skapað undir eigin vörumerki síðastliðin 19 ár. Undanfarin ár hefur hún fetað nýjar slóðir í sköpun sinni með insetningum og skúlptúr meðal annars.
